Well, I'm probably going to be the only comment on here hoping that the saying isn't true. My daughter from China will be my 5th child and my husband is snipped. If I get pregnant, it will be a huge shocker!
Yes, thankfully, I have never said this or even thought it. It just seems so assanine to me. Right up there with "Don't you two know what keeps causing that?!" Followed by loud guffaws. (We have our own line of dumb comments to wade through on the other end of the spectrum) And I never ask couples, "When are you going to have kids?" BUT....I wonder if I say/have said other stupid/insensitive/hurtful things to my infertile friends and didn't realize my blunder. You would tell me, Suz, wouldn't you?
I have gotten this comment so many times! I always kind of smile it off, but inside, it bugs me. It sounds as if my adopted children are somehow less important than a child that would be born to me. Also, since I have no desire to ever become pregnant, this saying scares me a bit too. Let's hope it's not true!
