Airplane Movies
Thursday, December 07, 2006
Just thought I'd share a little somethin' somethin' about me.

I just really remember and become attached to the movies that I watched on the airplanes going on our adoption trips (4 so far - 8 if you count both ways) .

I'm wondering if I'm alone in this? Ok, so I didn't see one bit of a movie on the coming home trip with D! But everytime I see Bridgette Jones's Diary I have a soft spot in my heart because that is what I watched on our way to D's court date. On this past trip to see V I watched The Devil Wears Prada.

Am I the only one who does this????

I don't remember the airplane movie- but whenever I hear the song that I put to the video of our first trip I feel what you are saying. I made that video the day we returned and the music brings back the memories instantly.

Nope, you're not the only one. I'm the same way. When I hear a song on the radio I remember exactly the book I was reading when I heard it the first time nearly 10 years ago.
The only movie I remember from an airplane ride was For the Love of the Game. It was on my first trip to the Philippines and Kevin Costner drank tomato juice on his plane ride which I always do as well. :o)
And Nanny McPhee will always remind my of my nieces.

I haven't adopted yet, but I so get what you mean. I remember things like the sound of water when I was waiting for sweet pea and princess.

The only reason I dont' remember the movies I see on airplanes is because, in my experience, the selections have all just been so bad ... I'm fairly certain I actually watched part of "Big Momma's House 2" on my last flight

We traveled during Christmas and I watched Elf and some other Christmaas movie. Our our court trip we watched Shark Tale and I actually remember watching all of these movies on the airplane everytime I see them on. It is funny how you just don't forget things like that. I wonder what kinds of movies will be out this time when we actually get the chance to travel again?

I think a lot of people associate songs, movies, etc with a special time in their lives.

I was going to comment that you were the only one in the world, but according to my predecors, I am way off base. I remember watching THE VILLAGE, first trip, but just because it was the only thing they played that wasn't complete trash, so I just kept my t.v. on it. Mostly I read; my Russia Discovery Channel book and RUSKA by Rutherford. Excellent book, by the way. We were too shell shocked second trip--missing our flight and almost missing our court hearing--to even register what was on the screen.

On trip 1 it was "walk the line".. i was just trying to keep my mind off of nerves... then on the way back it was "in her shoes"

Then on trip 2 on the way there it was Aeon Flux & Harry Potter,

on the way back we did not have movies that I recall or i could not see the screen... i was just so friggin tired

Hmmm...we saw "You, me and Dupree". Kind of a dumb movie, but now that you mention it, I will probably always remember the day I saw it!
